elsie: 3 months

I can't choose favorites.

Okay, maybe this next one is my favorite...

ELSIE

3 MONTHS

--She has found her hands and her feet. She spends a lot of time trying to get her hands in her mouth, and when she is diaper-less, she tries to grab her feet...or at least bring them as close to her head as possible.

-- She is learning how to use the muscles around her mouth to make different noises and to blow bubbles.

--She has started to drool.

--She loves to sit up and look around.

--She loves diaper changes and baths.

--Tummy time is too exhausting because she refuses to let her head rest on the floor. She often even picks up her arms and legs and just flies on her belly above the floor...all while screaming.

--She has started rubbing her eyes, especially when she's eating.

--SHE GIGGLES! It is still kind of rare and amazing when it happens, but it happens :)

--She tries to grab things, like a toy, if it's dangled in her face, or sometimes she'll try to grab it with her feet.

--She still sleeps swaddled, pacified, and in her Rock and Play. I don't know when to try to break her of each of those things...but, I think, not yet.

--Schedule? Meh...

elsie: 2 months

This is way late, so here's to remembering...

2 months

--By far the best part of month 2 = smiles!

--The conversation improved greatly, too. I swear she would say "Hello" to me

--She is just barely getting too big for her newborn sized clothes, but the next size up still seems too big. And she didn't make it to fit into her Christmas jammies in time for the holidays...

--She still sleeps pretty well, with usually at least one longer stretch somewhere in there. She till gets tightly swaddled whenever I put her down, and she still sleeps in the Rock and Play instead of her crib.

--Her daddy is rigorous with her baby exercises, including tummy time, standing time, and airplane time. She is getting good at holding her head up.

--She likes to look around and can often be calmed by being held "football" style.

--She started following things with her eyes and turning her head to keep focus with a passing object or person.

--She likes to interlock her fingers and pull them to her face in the-cutest-manner-possible. See picture two above. 

--Sometimes we wake up and it seems like she has grown way too much while we were sleeping.

The "S" in some pictures is our contribution to the Robison family photo idea where each family takes a pictures with one of the letters in "ROBISON".

Aaron wanted our "S" to be made of train tracks. It was awesome, but we couldn't quite figure out the logistics of actually taking a nice picture with the huge contraption.

And then I held the "S" upside-down...

And then Aaron was super cute...

Okay, the next one is not the best Elsie face, but still such a cute shot!

elsie: 1 month

I posted one of these pictures on Instagram and wrote "We kept her alive for one month!" and I guess there was confusion and people thought that she was no longer alive. But she is--don't worry--and she's getting bigger everyday!

So most parents will write down milestones, personality traits, habits, etc of their kids when they make a post like this. I feel like I don't have to much to report, she is just kind of a baby right now. Maybe I'm not intuitive enough to sense her personality. But, I will try to note some things I will want to remember.

Elsie

1 month

--She is starting to make noises that sound more like "cooing" and baby babble, which is exciting! I told that to Aaron and he was confused at why they call it "cooing".

--Other noises she makes have been compared to: dolphins, goats, horses, pterodactyls, and a balloon letting out a little air.

--I swear I have gotten some real, social smiles out of her, and they are dang cute.

--She laughs in her sleep.

--She gets the hiccups... a lot. Even in her sleep.

--She has a new habit of only sleeping well if swaddled. But when she's swaddled, she does sleep pretty well! I am only waking up about two times in the night to feed her, and one of those times she is usually falling asleep as the sun is rising and I feel like I should be getting up anyways since it's light out.

--Sadly, this swaddling habit means she is not as good anymore at falling asleep on my chest. Only in the most perfect of circumstances does that happen. It is a rare gem.

--She has started to love laying on her back on the floor. I call it "playing" on her back, but Aaron doesn't believe it is playing. He says it is "observing"--which is probably mostly true. There is a lot of learning happening. Sometimes she seems to be having so much fun looking around and kicking her legs, though, it seems like playing to me!

--She is starting to out grow her newborn sized clothes! As I realized that, I suddenly felt an urgency to dress her in all her next-size-up clothes, because they are so many and so cute and who knows how much time there will be until she out grows those too! (Though I still think it's silly to dress her up because she just spits up on herself and sleeps most of the day)

--Nicknames: Elsie Bean, Elsie Bell, Elsie Belsie, Elsie Love, Elsie Pie, Elsie Bug, My Little Bean, My Little Bug. The "Bug" variations have kind of worn off, but that was a common one when she was small and curled up to sleep on my chest more often...just like a bug?
